Expert Seminar on Traditional Knowledge and Indigenous Peoples’ Fisheries in the Arctic Region

This expert seminar brought together indigenous experts, fishers, academics, researchers and policy makers from across the Arctic region, to take part FAO’s first event focused on Indigenous Peoples’ Arctic fisheries. The seminar addressed a wide range of topics, including food security and nutrition, maintaining traditional fishing methods, the challenges of climate change, indigenous knowledge, involving Indigenous Peoples’ in decision-making, and empowering indigenous youth.
